Dr. Brittany Frederick (she/her) serves as the Director of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Multicultural Education. She provides strategic oversight for the programs, services, and initiatives that cultivate an inclusive campus community. Dr. Frederick also partners with campus stakeholders to identify best practices and implement data-driven decisions that effectively recruit, retain, and foster a sense of belonging for WPI students.
Dr. Frederick’s passion for creating inclusive educational environments is inspired by her multifaceted experiences as an academic administrator, public historian, and scholar of twentieth-century African American history and higher education. Prior to her time at WPI, Dr. Frederick served as Associate Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Fox Graduate School at Pennsylvania State University. As a scholar-practitioner, Dr. Frederickexamines the historical and contemporary systems that shape educational equity and impact the experiences of underrepresented students.
Dr. Frederick holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Prior to her doctoral study, Dr. Frederick earned a B.A. in History and an M.A. from the Public History program at the University at Albany (SUNY).
